Do You Know Micronations in The World

There is a small island called Molossia in the Nevada in the United States. In fact, it is a country and its integrated name is Republic of Molossia. Nowadays, the country’s population is only six people. About forty years ago, when it was established in 1970, the original population is only four. However, they also have their own government websites. The name, Molossia, comes from the Spanish, which means the small rock mountain. Molossia claims to be a sovereign independent nation-state, therefore, it takes a sovereign country’s government system.

Different with microstates such as Vatican city and Singapore, micronations such as the Republic of Molossia are set up by their own and not recognized by the international community. The reasons of establishing such small country are diverse, some are just a joke, some are just art forms, some want to take a protest against the government and even some are illegal activities.

In addition to the Republic of Molossia, there are still some other micronations in the world such as Principality of Sealand, located in Roughs Tower in England, Principality of Hutt River, located in the western of Australia, Other World Kingdom, where men are ruled by women, and Waveland, which opposes the offshore oil drilling.
